Grattamacco Bolgheri Vermentino 2014, Tuscany, Italy (£25 Laithwaites)
Rich and juicy but always vibrant, with pithy lemon and rounder muskier pear fruit joined by notes of herbs and pine, and a tense finish to hold it all together. Very good. S
Cave de Turckheim Gewürztraminer Grand Cru Brand 2011, Alsace, France (£18-19 Virgin Wines, D Byrne, Fenwicks, The Drinkmonger)
Classic Gewürz, intense and spicy with exotic rose petal, lychee and ginger alongside the bold fleshy ripe orange and peach flavours. S(-)
Léon Beyer Sylvaner 2014, Alsace, France (£8.50 The Wine Society)
Not the best known of Alsace grapes, but certainly one worth seeking out, this scores for its gentle nectarine flavour, smoky herb and pine notes, and crisp citrus and spice finish. B+
Viñalba Selección Torrontés 2015, Valle de Uco, Mendoza, Argentina (£9.99 Majestic)
There’s a pleasant fresh lemon peel tang here, plus a perfumed grapey note, but there’s also a touch of bitterness, and a slightly prominent character of barley sugar on the finish. C+
