Another one with a fair bit of weight but here there’s a minerally backbone plus zesty orange acidity to rein in the more exuberant baked apple, pearskin and nut flavours. S(-)

At the fatter, riper end of Grüner Veltliner, with plenty of melon and peach flesh, but there’s also the Lilt-like freshness of pineapple and grapefruit, plus classic Grüner white pepper, all underpinned by minerality and zestiness. S(+)
Land of Hope Reserve Chenin Blanc 2010, Stellenbosch, South Africa (£14.99 Marks & Spencer)
Starts off in rather simple fashion, with guava, baked apple and honey flavours backed up by toasty oak, and then evolves over time to show more interesting sappy notes and citrussy freshness. Was probably a little harsh on it in the video… S-
