Wine Tasting Video: New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc

Bella by Invivo Sauvignon Blanc 2011, Marlborough (£14.99 Harvey Nichols, www.yourfavouritewines.com, averys.com)
Gentle herby style with plenty of grassy rhubarb, citrus and apple crumble flavour, just let down by a slightly underripe green pepper note. B

Invivo Sauvignon Blanc 2011, Marlborough (£12.99 Harvey Nichols, www.yourfavouritewines.com, averys.com, Tesco.com)
Fresh and grassy, but still quite weighty, with ripe citrus and gooseberry character underpinned by stony minerality. S(-)

Jackson Estate Stich Sauvignon Blanc 2011, Marlborough (£12.49 Ocado, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Majestic)
Combines freshness and richness to good effect, with the herby citrus and green apple notes cosying up to fleshier peach, plum and nectarine, nice texture too. S

Forrest Sauvignon Blanc 2010, Marlborough (£9.99 Adnams)
Has lost the zip of youth and entered a slightly sweaty, peapoddy middle age, with angular green pepper notes too. Would have been better last year. C

Gladstone Vineyard Sophie’s Choice 2010, Gladstone (£17.90 Must Wines)
Greengage, green pepper and peapod flavours encased in a smoky/toasty oak overcoat, and with a touch of creaminess too. Not overoaked, but just a little too pristine for real class. B+
