Should have posted this a while ago, but life got busy….
Skouras Cuvée Prestige, Vin de Pays de Peloponnese 2010 (£9.50 The Wine Society)
Fresh and tangy wine, like Roses Lime Juice with a slightly toasty edge, not complex but tasty with an almost oily/petrolly Riesling-like grapiness. B
Mediterra Silenus Beta 2010, Crete (£8.25 Bacchanalia, Bibendum)
Simple, peachy style, reminiscent of so-so Aussie Semillon/Chardonnay blends, OK, but no extra mile. C
Moraitis Sillogi 2010, Paros (£9.95 The Wine Society)
Decent pithy style, with citrus to the fore, but also some more exuberant tropical fruit notes, and a fleshy finish. B(+)
San..torini Winery Assyrtiko 2009 (£12.50 Wild Ferment, Ellis Wharton Wines, Bibendum)
Interesting mix of fat and lean, has quite heady, waxy pistachio, peach and honey characters plus touches of spice and vanilla reined in by a spine of minerality and citrus acidity. Think slightly exotic white Bordeaux… B+
Hatzidakis Santorini 2009 (£11.50 The Wine Society)
Poised, elegant and fragrant wine, has lost some of the sternness of youth and fleshed out a little, but it still displays its citrus & mineral spines. S
