Don’t know if I’ve just been a little tardy reviewing these, but they didn’t seem to appear on the websites of a number of the stockists whose details I’d been given. Anyway…
Mlle Ladubay Saumur Brut NV, Loire, France (£8.64 Waitrose)
Refreshing and honest wine, clean and fresh, with zesty fruit and a green appley bite, simple but tasty. B
Cesarini Sforza Cuvée Brut Riserva, Trento, Italy (£12 www.tesco.com)
Initially a slightly strange and metallic smell, but this blows off to show quite rich strawberry and citrus flavours, a creamy texture and a soft, but fresh and friendly finish. B(+)
Jaume Serra Selección Especial Brut Cava NV, Spain (£9.99 The Co-op)
Classic and quite classy Cava, with the bite of lemon balanced with earthy/minerally notes, clean and nicely balanced. B+
Gabbia d’Oro Glera Prosecco Frizzante Rosé NV, Veneto, Italy (£9.99 The Co-op)
Decent amount of strawberry and sour cherry flavour, just let down by a slightly medicinal character. B-
La Marca Prosecco Conegliano di Valdobbiadene Superiore NV, Veneto, Italy (£14.99 Majestic)
Rich, almost creamy but has none of the clumsy sherbet edges often found in Prosecco; instead there’s an almost slate-y mineral note, and a soft but fine-boned finish. S-
