Have a bit of a backlog of videos so let’s get a couple in this post, beginning in the southern Rhône…
Guigal Côtes du Rhône Blanc 2015, France (£13.99 Fenwicks, The Framlingham Wine Shop, Swift Wines, Italian Continental Stores, Bubbles And Wine Ltd, Direct Wines, Amazon)
A good mix of richness and freshness, with honeyed peach and passionfruit flavours, hint of nuts and honeysuckle, and a tangy citrus finish. B+
Paul Jaboulet Aîné Secret de Famille Côtes-du-Rhône Blanc 2015, France (£12.95 From Vineyards Direct)
Less fruit-forward, and more nutty and creamy with a waxy note to the peachy flesh and floral characters, lovely texture too. S-
Now onto Italy
Basilisco “Teodosio” Aglianico del Vulture 2013, Basilicata, Italy (£12.49 Strictly Wine)
A lovely glass of southern warmth and allure, quite pale in colour, but with generous plum fig and light raisin flavours, a (nice) note of rusty iron and aromas of violets and rose petal, with a backbone of firm tannin and cool acidity. Approachable now, but built to last. Very good, and a great value alternative to similarly proportioned Barolo. S
