“I Don’t Know Much About Wine, But I Know What I Like…”

After hearing that line for the 53rd time, Simon Woods decided it was time to address the problem. Hence this book, an easily digestible and occasionally irreverent guide to the fascinating but often confusing world of wine. It’s a book aimed at all those millions of people who regularly crack open a bottle, and are beginning to ask, “What’s next?”

The first edition won the prestigious Prix du Champagne Lanson Award for the Best Wine Book Of The Year. This brand new edition has been totally revised, and features chapters on apps and wine bars, and more besides, as well as brand new illustrations from Manchester illustrator Steph Coathupe

So grab a glass and dive in…

What others said about the first edition
“To get away with writing a book like this takes a writer who is able to simplify rather than dumb-down, and who has the nous to chop his way through the thicket of politics and reverence that surrounds the subject. More than anything else, it takes a writer who really knows his stuff – well enough to forget much of it, and boil wine truths down to a simple, but concentrated essence. Simon Woods is just the right man for the job, and his track record gives him the necessary authority.”
Tom Cannavan, wine-pages.com

“A book like this needs an author like Woods who could, if he chose, pack your skull with information about trellising and oak staves, but who knows when this sort of information is de trop… It’s bit-sized and succinct, written with good humour and irreverence.”
Richard Ehrlich, The Independent on Sunday

“Every loo should have one!”
Michael Cox, UK Director of Wines of Chile, one of judging panel for the Prix du Champagne Lanson Award

Just read this in one sitting, a great book and even better than the last one.

Some real pearls of wisdom for the both experienced and inexperienced all written in typically engaging style.

Buy it – you’ll love it!

Another excellent read, just as good as “The Worlds Shortest Wine Book”. Once again, plenty of useful info for a wine novice like myself. Found the ‘How to set up your own wine cellar’ ‘where to go to find out more’ & the ‘smart buys in wine’ chapters particularly useful. And on the subject of ‘smart buys in wine’, as a person who’s introduction to wine was via Argentine Malbec, I shall be reserving my +1 space the next time I stock up for a Cab Sauv, as per the ‘compare & contrast, part 1’ suggestion (having tried a Malbec/Touriga Nacional blend, I’m very much impressed with that grape already).
Well that’s enough waffling from me, so to sum up, buy this book. You won’t regret it.
