Not sure if this wine was as happy as it should be…
(Addendum: yes, another bottle tried HERE was much better)
Château des Sarrins Côtes de Provence Rosé 2013, France (£15.99 Bibendum, TheDrinkShop.com)
Gave this plenty of time to settle before tasting, but on opening, it feels disjointed, with a slightly stinky sulphury overtone that’s still there two hours later. The wine behind is pleasant enough, young and fresh, with notes of apple and just a touch of red berry, but this doesn’t seem to be in a happy state at the moment. (not giving it a mark – it’s the sort of wine that if I tried it with the winemaker there, I’d ask, ‘Does this bottle seem OK to you?’)
